Day 1: Cusco – Cusipata – Quesyuno – Rainbow Mountain – Cusco
- Very early morning pickup at your hotel or Airbnb in Cusco by Pakareqtampu Travel and overland transfer to Cusipata for a buffet breakfast.
- Transfer to Quesyuno to receive the briefing and start the hike towards the famous Rainbow Mountain (Vinicunca).
- A hike of moderate difficulty of approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes, appreciating snow-capped peaks and typical fauna of the area.
- Free time at the viewpoint at 5,036 m a.s.l. to rest, take photographs, and admire the natural stripes of colors.
- Descent on foot along the same route to the transportation and transfer to Cusipata to enjoy a well-deserved traditional buffet lunch.
- Return journey in tourist transportation to the city of Cusco, ending the excursion near Plaza Regocijo.
Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Cusco – Cusipata – Quesyuno – Rainbow Mountain – Cusco
03:50 – 04:30 Hotel pickup and departure to Cusipata. Today, the Pakareqtampu Travel team will pick you up, and we will begin this incredible adventure very early in the morning, between 03:50 and 04:30 a.m., with the pickup from your hotel in Cusco. Then, we will depart in tourist transportation towards Cusipata, crossing beautiful Andean landscapes. During the journey, you will be able to travel with greater comfort, as we provide fleece blankets for the coldest hours. Before starting the hike, we will make a stop to enjoy an Andean buffet breakfast, ideal for recharging your energy and preparing for this exciting excursion to one of the most impressive landscapes in Peru.
06:30 – 09:30 Trailhead in Quesyuno – Hike to the Rainbow Mountain. After breakfast, we will continue to Quesyuno, the starting point of the hike to the famous Rainbow Mountain, also known as Vinicunca or the Rainbow Mountain of Peru. Here, the Pakareqtampu Travel guide will provide a brief briefing with important recommendations for the route. The hike lasts approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes, with a moderate difficulty, and takes place surrounded by imposing mountains, snow-capped peaks, and typical fauna of the area, such as llamas and alpacas in their natural habitat. Throughout the journey, you will enjoy unique high Andean landscapes that will make this experience something unforgettable. Upon reaching the Rainbow Mountain viewpoint, located at approximately 5,036 m a.s.l., you will have time to rest, take photographs, and closely admire the impressive natural stripes of colors that make Vinicunca one of the most visited destinations in Cusco.
12:00 – 13:30 Return to Cusipata – Buffet lunch. After enjoying the visit, we will begin the descent along the same route until reaching our transportation again. Subsequently, we will head towards Cusipata, where a traditional buffet lunch of the area awaits us. This will be the perfect moment to rest, recover energy, and share the experience lived during this adventure in the Andes.
13:30 – 17:00 Return to Cusco. After lunch, we will undertake the return journey to the city of Cusco with Pakareqtampu Travel’s transportation. Arrival is scheduled between 4:30 and 5:00 p.m., ending the service near Plaza Regocijo. This full-day tour to the Rainbow Mountain combines adventure, nature, and spectacular landscapes, providing you with an unforgettable experience on one of the most amazing routes in the Peruvian Andes.
