Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Lima City Tour
09:00 – 09:15 a.m. Hotel pickup. The tour begins with the pickup from your hotel in Miraflores or San Isidro. On board our tourist transportation, you will meet the Pakareqtampu Travel guide, who will provide an introduction to the history of Lima, capital of Peru and known as the “City of the Kings”.
09:20 a.m. Parque del Amor – Miraflores. Our first stop will be the Parque del Amor, one of the most iconic places in the Miraflores district. You will enjoy a spectacular panoramic view of the Pacific Ocean from the cliffs of the Costa Verde and admire the famous sculpture «El Beso» (The Kiss), a work by Peruvian artist Víctor Delfín. The park is decorated with colorful mosaics displaying phrases by Peruvian poets and is ideal for taking photographs of the coastal landscape.
09:40 a.m. Huaca Pucllana. We continue towards Huaca Pucllana, an ancient pre-Inca ceremonial center belonging to the Lima culture (200–700 AD). At this archaeological site, located in the heart of the modern district of Miraflores, you will learn how rituals and offerings to their deities were conducted, as well as appreciate its imposing adobe pyramid of over 25 meters in height. (Panoramic stop or entrance, depending on availability and tour type).
10:10 a.m. Transfer to the Historic Center of Lima. We will head towards the Historic Center of Lima, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. During the journey, you will be able to observe contrasts between modern Lima and colonial Lima.
10:30 a.m. Plaza San Martín and Plaza Mayor. We will arrive at the heart of the city, starting the tour at Plaza San Martín, surrounded by elegant neocolonial-style buildings. Then we will take a pleasant pedestrian walk along Jirón de la Unión to the Plaza Mayor of Lima, where the city was founded in 1535. At this point, you will contemplate the main monuments of viceregal power: the Government Palace, the Archbishop’s Palace, the Cathedral of Lima, and the Municipality of Lima, all featuring imposing carved wooden balconies that evoke the splendor of the colonial period.
11:00 a.m. San Francisco Convent and Catacombs. The visit continues at the San Francisco Convent, one of the most emblematic temples of the Peruvian viceroyalty. You will tour its cloisters decorated with 17th-century Sevillian tiles, its library with valuable ancient manuscripts, and finally descend into the catacombs, an underground system that served as a cemetery during the colonial era, featuring thousands of human remains carefully organized. This experience will transport you to the past and allow you to understand the religious and social history of ancient Lima.
11:50 a.m. – 13:00 p.m. Return to the hotel. Once the tour is finished, we will return to your hotel in Miraflores or San Isidro with Pakareqtampu Travel’s transportation.
