Day 1: Cusco – Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco
- Early morning pickup at your hotel in Cusco and transfer in tourist transportation towards the Ollantaytambo station.
- Journey in a panoramic tourist train (Expedition or Voyager) towards Aguas Calientes, enjoying the Andean landscapes.
- Ascent by bus from the town to the main entrance of the Machu Picchu archaeological site.
- Professional guided tour through the most important temples, viewpoints, and sectors of the citadel.
- Return by bus to Aguas Calientes with free time to have lunch, walk around, and visit the local market.
- Return train journey to Ollantaytambo and final overland transfer by Pakareqtampu Travel back to Cusco.
Detailed itinerary
Day 1: Cusco – Ollantaytambo – Aguas Calientes – Machu Picchu – Cusco
04:00 – 04:30 Hotel pickup – Transfer to Ollantaytambo. Today, the Pakareqtampu Travel team will pick you up from your hotel in Cusco. We begin the day very early with the transfer in tourist transportation to the train station in Ollantaytambo, located in the Sacred Valley.
06:00 – 08:00 Tourist train journey to Aguas Calientes. We will board the Expedition or Voyager train, coordinated by Pakareqtampu Travel, which will take you on a panoramic journey of approximately 1 hour and 45 minutes to Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Pueblo).
During the tour, you will enjoy impressive Andean landscapes and views of the Urubamba River. Upon arriving in the town of Aguas Calientes, you will have time to have breakfast.
08:30 – 09:00 Bus to Machu Picchu. Upon arriving in Aguas Calientes, we ascend by bus for 30 minutes to the entrance of the Machu Picchu citadel.
09:00 – 11:30 Guided tour in Machu Picchu. Depending on your entrance tickets to Machu Picchu, your schedule will be adjusted. Entrance to the citadel to undertake a 2-hour guided tour with the Pakareqtampu Travel team, exploring the main temples, agricultural terraces, and viewpoints of this World Heritage Site and Wonder of the Modern World.
11:30 – 14:00 Return to Aguas Calientes – Free time. After the visit, we return to Aguas Calientes. There, you will have free time to have lunch, stroll around the town, or shop at the local market.
14:30 – 16:00 Return train journey to Ollantaytambo. Depending on your train tickets, you can accommodate your schedules. We board the tourist train once again to return to Ollantaytambo.
16:30 – 20:00 Overland transfer to Cusco. Upon arriving in Ollantaytambo, we continue in private transportation of Pakareqtampu Travel towards Cusco. Estimated arrival is between 19:00 and 20:00 hours, finishing at your hotel or at a central point in the city.
